Body Geography
An Introduction to the 5 Channel Systems of Classical Chinese Medicine
Body Geography is an introduction to the 5 Channel System of classical Chinese medicine. Designed for anyone trained in any tradition of Asian medicine that includes the Primary Channels, this course will examine the layers of the living body and provide both the structure and theory for bringing this view into practice.
Though they are an important system, the Primary channels represent only one of the systems of the body. In classical Chinese medical thinking we are comprised of 5 channel systems, systems that include layers more superficial to the Primary channels such as our skin and our sinews, and deeper layers comprised of bone and marrow.
In this course you will learn:
- Theory and treatment guidelines to allow you to easily implement the classical channel systems in your practice
- Theoretical foundations for the Sinew channels, the Luo channels, the Primary channels, the Divergent Channels, and the Eight Extraordinary vessels
- The unique features of each system and the disorders and diseases for which each system may be most important and effective
- Application to individual cases, outlining treatment guidelines for each individual case in each of the channel systems
The course content consists of 8 videos, recorded during lectures with an audience of Chinese medicine practitioners. You will receive lecture content from the instructor as well as case presentations from audience members and active discussions of those cases. If you have questions about the content, the course includes a monitored Q&A forum where you can further discuss the content with the instructor and other course participants.
12 PDA points are available for this course through the NCCAOM, California.

I teach from the perspective of classical
Chinese medicine, a medicine that sees the body as a living, evolving
expression of vital elements and our relationship to our world. This poetic and profound
view of the body sees the layers of our being as living systems, systems that interface within us but can be separately examined and engaged with for all kinds of healing. The classical view sees 5 Channel systems; Sinews, Luos, Primary, Divergent and Eight Extraordinary vessels. In my courses, you will learn to understand these 5 Channel systems and apply the treatment principles in your own healthcare practice.
My interest and passion for both Chinese medicine and essential oils began over three decades ago as I explored ways to work with my own health. The flames were fanned into a bonfire in 1999 when I began to study with Jeffrey Yuen in New York city. In all of the essential oils courses you will find the magical mix of spirit and substance that Chinese medicine offers and that the essential oils embody.
