The Three-Legged Vessel

Classical Thinking for the Primary Channels

The Three-legged Vessel presents a unique discussion on using the Primary Channel system from a classical Chinese medical perspective. Offering theory, strategy and practical application, this course is full of interesting and new ways to work with everyday diagnosis. As the broadest rivers in the body, the Primary Channels are the most-used of all the channel systems in Chinese medicine. With a vast network of connection, the Primary Channels can be powerful in many situations. The classical structure of thinking asks us to look at the body as a whole, to look to both the past and the possible future for each individual.

Developed on the ground in the clinic, The “Tripod Method” was designed to give both students and practitioners an easy and effective way to create a potent treatment in every circumstance. Utilizing the 5 elements as discussed in the Nan Jing - The Classic of Difficult Issues, combined with the channel systems as described in the Nei Jing - The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine, this new approach allows easy access to the simplest but most effective way to begin to restore harmony to the body right away.

As an investigation of classical thinking, this innovative method allows you to act as a "superior clinician" in the way of the ancients, tending to the past in the form of the root cause, tending to the present in the form of current complaints and tending to the future by understanding how the current signs and symptoms might develop. As you look deeply into how to think about the interactions on the Primary Channels in light of the classical 5 Meridian System model, you will be able to act accurately and immediately to find resolution for almost any condition. In this way, you will find yourself standing out of time, but standing in relationship to all possibilities.

Completing this course will award you 9 CEUs approved by the NCCAOM, California (Provider #1261).

I teach from the perspective of classical Chinese medicine, a medicine that sees the body as a living, evolving expression of vital elements and our relationship to our world. This poetic and profound view of the body sees the layers of our being as living systems, systems that interface within us but can be separately examined and engaged with for all kinds of healing. The classical view sees 5 Channel systems; Sinews, Luos, Primary, Divergent and Eight Extraordinary vessels. In my courses, you will learn to understand these 5 Channel systems and apply the treatment principles in your own healthcare practice.

My interest and passion for both Chinese medicine and essential oils began over three decades ago as I explored ways to work with my own health. The flames were fanned into a bonfire in 1999 when I began to study with Jeffrey Yuen in New York city. In all of the essential oils courses you will find the magical mix of spirit and substance that Chinese medicine offers and that the essential oils embody.
